Big Dog Motorycles Boxer Reveal at Sturgis

This unreleased blog post has been sitting around for a while. The video has been out, but has been unprompted… This is a concept that we were working on several years ago. The blog post went unpublished, so here it is!

The Boxer at the Sturgis FXR show

Big Dog has deep roots in traditional choppers and cruisers. We love the thirty-thousand plus traditional bikes that we have built over the years. We will continue our dedication to the traditional custom bikes that we have all grown to love and become known for.

At the same time, today’s motorcycle market is not what it was in the early 2000s.

While we continue our commitment to traditional choppers, pro street, and custom cruisers, we also love pushing the envelope and pursuing innovation in the big V-twin market.

I captured this video during reveal of our reimagined Big Dog Motorcycles “Boxer” at Sturgis, 2016.

This video has been sitting on my hard drive for a while after I uploaded it to Facebook.

I’m sharing it on our blog to continually inspire our imaginations and creativity at the Big Dog factory.

The Boxer is an example of innovation and a continued pursuit of American Made custom motorcycle expression.

A Sporty V-Twin

The concept behind the boxer is a performance inspired bike that packs the punch of a 124 cubic inch S&S V-twin. A sporty bike that grown men and women will be proud to ride.

Some of the features that stand out on the Boxer are the rubber mounted engine, custom race-inspired suspension, and ergonomically placed controls. These elements allow riders to really push g-force through the turns.

Details and specifications for the all new Big Dog Motorcycles Boxer

As the Big Dog Videographer, I captured the end of the build as Matt finished hanging the last parts on the custom bike.

Big Dog finished the build at the last minute and the bike made the show.  Although the Boxer made many great impressions at the show, it required a few more tweaks before it was ready for its proud new owner. As a result, we didn’t get to capture any riding footage of this beast at Sturgis, then it sold.

If you own and ride a Big Dog, make sure you only use factory certified parts.
